Description

It's not every day that a vehicle comes up for sale that has been loved and appreciated by one person for over fifty years, much less a vehicle that has escaped major modifications or abuse, has its original drivetrain, and every piece of documentation representing fifty plus years of ownership. This 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu 350 is that car, and now is your chance to become only the third owner of this timeless beauty. Sold new by Babe Houser Chevrolet-Olds-Cadillac Inc. of Concordia, Kansas, this Chevelle came equipped with a long list of options. Finished in code 75 Cranberry Red with white vinyl soft top and saddle vinyl interior, this Malibu came with soft ray tinted glass($43.20), floor mats($12.65), door edge guards($6.35), 4-season air conditioning($407.60), power disc/drum brakes($69.55), 245hp Turbo Fire 350ci V-8($26.35), Turbo Hydramatic Transmission($216.50), power steering($115.90), E78x14 white stripe tires($28.15), full wheel covers($26.35), and AM push button radio($66.40). These options added $1,019 to the base price of $3,260, and with destination charge brought the grand total to $4,416.00. Not an inexpensive vehicle in 1971, and very close to base Chevelle SS money. Strangely, the original purchaser only kept the car for two years and traded it in at Kent Brown Chevrolet in Topeka, Kansas. This is where our young long-term owner fresh out of the U.S. Navy stumbled upon it in late October of 1973 showing just under 32,000 miles on the odometer. He traded in his 1964 Falcon for $795 credit towards the Chevelle, paid $2,070 cash and signed the paperwork to take it home on Halloween. Through marriage, kids, and moves, the Chevelle remained a faithful steed. Every repair or replacement that was made to the vehicle was documented with receipts, and in fifty years this Chevelle has been through a multitude of tires, batteries, brakes, two engine rebuilds, axle rebuilds, one repaint, seat covers, and at least two tops. We have just replaced the A/C compressor, drier, and expansion valve so the air conditioning blows ice cold. We also replaced the hydraulic lines for the power convertible top to quell a fluid leak and restore proper top operation. This Malibu is now ready for a new home with someone who will continue the legacy of love and care that has kept this amazing automobile in outstanding shape some five decades on. It is a pleasure to drive, cruises nicely, and draws stares and thumbs up in traffic. The top is crisp and clean, and the paint has an excellent shine. The interior is almost as new, with an upgraded modern digital AM/FM radio and an aftermarket cruise control set up. All chrome shows extremely well, and glass is clear and scratch free. Vehicles with this type of documentation and ownership history are truly few and far between, so call Brian at 352-307-1968 and put your name on this classic Chevelle before it's gone. Financing and transportation services are available.
