The 1967 Chevrolet Corvette was the end of the line for the mid-year or Sting Ray(two words) Corvettes. Chevrolet had originally intended to debut the C3 for the 67' model year, but due to teething troubles with the new car, Chevrolet Motor Division decided to continue C2 production for another year. Not content to just let the car soldier on without any changes for its last year, Chevrolet designers made many exterior changes that make the 67' model year cars quite unique. The fender gills were changed, along with a removal of the side badging for a cleaner look, and a backup light was placed above the rear license plate opening. The ever so popular "Stinger" hood was fitted this year to big block cars, and immediately every owner of a pervious year Corvette, big block or not, ran out and added this hood to their Corvette. Today the 67' Corvette, like the 63' split windows, is one of the most popular and desirable Corvettes to own. This is due not only to the unique changes to the Corvette for 67', but also because it was the end of the Sting Ray era and represents the best of the breed mechanically and aesthetically.
